From 1913

~

Ola Anderson Vinson, daughter of Melvina Howard. I'm not sure what her relation is to me. Both my father's mother's and father's families had Howards. Yeah, they were cousins who married, but in isolated rural areas that was common because there just weren't that many people to choose from. My grandmother's father was the brother of my grandfather's maternal grandfather. That would be like one of our sons having a daughter who ended up marrying David's brother's son. Weird.

Anyway, I really like that picture.

Yes, the picture is cool...I love it, but the rest is mind boggling....(LOL)

Back then I guess there were not that many choices, I sure hope it does not come down to me and that case....because there are not any of mine I would be interested in. (LOL)

I'm glad my relatives don't live near me.....not that I'd hae much to do with any of them, they're stark raving mad.

I was going to make a smart comment about cousins getting married trying to be funny. But, then decided you don't know me well enough to know I would be joking. I do have a million thoughts come to mind though.

Cousins marrying? I thought you were from Tennessee, not Arkansas. Oops, just remembered, in Arkansas it would be immediate family.

I love this picture! It's almost ghostly- did you alter it?

Entering names in my family tree becomes a nightmare when distant cousins marry. The software prompts an "Are you sure of this relationship?" message, and I cringe when I enter YES.

suzie, yeah, it was slim pickin's back then. Kissin' cousins were common. lol

rainypete, why am I not surprised? lol

condoleesa, I'd love to hear your jokes! Being from Appalachia makes you develop a sense of humor about it.

dh, redneck indeed! But I like to think of myself as an educated and maybe semi-refined redneck. lol

sierrabella, yeah, I altered it. I cropped it and ran it through my Paint Shop program until I got that ghostly effect. It's kind of embarrassing to tell people that my grandparents were first cousins once removed. Maybe that explains what's wrong with me. But hey, this is Tennessee. I need to put what I know into family tree software.
