He's Back!

Clyde the frog has made another appearance! My cute little amphibious suitor! It's interesting that he makes his appearances soon after I've been bashed. Cleansing indeed!

And actually I did get a chance earlier today to read more about Upland Chorus Frogs. I didn't find anything about whether or not they burrow under dirt, but most of what I did find said that they are usually difficult to see and that there isn't much information about their habits other than during mating season. I also read that they are nocturnal. Well, apparently not totally nocturnal, at least not Clyde. If you click on the photo to go to a larger version of it you can see some specks of dirt on his back. Maybe he was under some dirt.

I had questioned my identification of him and wondered if he was actually a Spring Peeper, but after listening to a recording of each species I'm 99.8% sure he is an Upland Chorus Frog.

And I'm really amazed that he showed up just now and completely absolved my previous aggravation. Thank you Clyde! (I might just have to kiss him, lol.)

Looks like a nice frog...could be a prince.

He's a cutie. My princes always turned into toads. :(

Are you sure he's a frog and not a toad? (further evidence of my limited knowledge... Is there a difference?)

Euwww! don't tell me about it if you kiss him! Unless he gives you a gnarly buzz. Hmmm....

marsha, thanks for stopping by! Yeah, I think he's so cute. We can pretend that's he's a prince.

kat, I know what you mean. It's a shame!

guy, yes, there are some differences between frogs and toads. Toads have warty, dry skin, and frogs have smooth, wet skin. Frogs stay near water more than toads. There are probably other differences too. Clyde is definitely a frog. And I found his hiding spot. It's in the water reservoir of that green planter in the picture. I've heard about hallucinogenic frogs/toads, but I'm not sure which ones are. The thought of licking a frog really isn't too appealing. Ick, even if it did result in a cool trip. If I did kiss him it would be with a closed mouth! lol

Rae Ann, I do not want to click on that picture to get a closer look. (LOL) You know those things give me the creeps. Since there are so many types here....huge ones too...some get down in the dirt as you said. I re-potted early b/c of it this year.

"What no tongue? " said the frog...

Oops, that should be:
"What, no tongue?" said the frog.

suzie, sorry to keep terrorizing you with pictures of the frog. I can't imagine having to live with the giant, nasty ones you have in Florida. Bless your heart!

guy, ewwww... lol
