On the Edge of Sanity

My apologies to all:

Whatever forces in the Universe (internal and external) that maintain equilibrium are all out of whack. (maybe it's just hormonal? but isn't that what I always say? lol) The nurturer needs some nurturing (of the warm-fuzzy type), and since I have no mother or grandmothers or other female relatives who can provide that I must either provide for myself or pay someone else to do it. ;-)

Don't cry for me Argentina. This too shall pass. I hope.

Meanwhile here are some funny searches that have recently led here:

Hi Rae Ann,
I am new to your blog and I've just been going through the archives. I know this might be rehashing the past, but I'd like to seek clarification about a comment you made in a post in April:

"....Don't you think that Iran's current push for nuclear weapons would be a much bigger threat if Sadam was still in power in Iraq?...."

Could you please expand on this idea ? It's an interesting angle that I haven't seen used before. Explain exactly how, if Saddam was still in power, Iran would be even more of a threat than it currently is.

I apologize if this is irrelevant to the current blog issue, you may choose to ignore my comment.

Hi Anonymous,

Well, I'm sorry that I don't have any specific historical sources to back up my opinion about that, but this is what I imagine probably would have happened:

If we'd kept it in Afghanistan and stayed out of Iraq it would have given Iran and Iraq an opportunity to collaborate against us. Sadam and Iran would have coordinated their efforts for nuclear weapons and other things while we were preoccupied with Afghanistan, and they together would have probably succeeded.

Maybe that sounds highly unlikely to many people based on blah, blah, blah, but if you look at history there are many things that happened that were highly unlikely but happened anyway. Life, for example. ;-)

But anyway, maybe that sounds like too simple a strategy. I don't know. I'm not really a strategist. It just makes sense to me that if Sadam was still in power, Iraq and Iran would have allied themselves against us. Therefore, making each more of a threat individually as well as together.

I might read this in the morning and decide it sounds really stupid, so forgive me if it does. (I'm a little chemically inconvenienced at the moment ;-) )

I can't really figure out how to email a hug over, but all the scientist types I know are woking on the problem for me. I'll keep sending good vibes your way.
