False Prophets

Revelation 16:13

And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. (KJV)

Well, sure, everyone else has mentioned it so I might as well too. Pat Robertson has declared that God punished Sharon by stroke. Much the same as when he said that the attack of 9-11 was God's punishment, and didn't he say that about New Orleans too? Honestly, I haven't paid too much attention to what he says on a daily basis so I don't know if he makes these kinds of statements all the time or if he only does it about major events. If Sharon miraculously recovers from all of this then Robertson will probably declare him the Antichrist (since he's so intent on defining these as the "End Days").

Revelation 13:3

And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast. (KJV)

Okay, I am NOT saying that Sharon is the beast. I'm just imagining what might be going on in a crazy man's head, the crazy man being Pat Robertson. And in case it's not clearly indicated, if you click the title it will take you to a brief description of false prophets.

Are you saying that Robertson is the false prophet? A certain faction has been pinning that label and the labels of the beast and the antichrist on people for years. It wasn't too long ago that Bill Clinton was being desrcibed in those terms, what with his parsing and turning of definitions on their heads.

I haven't followed Robertson all that closely over the years, but every now and again I'll catch someof the 700 club. I truly believe he is losing it. He and Keith Jackson (for those of you who watched the Rose Bowl) should be put out to pasture for good. They've both had their time in the sun.

Christians do not believe that God punishes man on earth for his sins. The true punishment, if applied, comes much later and is much worse than anything we can conceive of here. Rather, we live in a fallen, imperfect world where bad (and good) things happen to good and bad people alike. Robertson and other "Christian leaders" who say otherwise do a disservice to true believers because non-believers frequently look to men like him for their views on Christianity. In fact, despite his prominence in the media, he doesn't speak for most Christians. And it's people like him that give rise to terms like "radical Christian right" and cause believers to spend time backpedaling trying to explain themselves and the difference between their faith and the #$*&@ that he spews.

Madman, spill the beans: who's truly the antichrist? Inquiring minds want to know.

My Ex husband thought he was a prophet.

Pat Robertson is a nutcake.

madman, I think you speak more truth than most!

dh, yes, you summed that up very well. And yes, I do think that Pat Robertson is a false prophet. He misleads people which is one of the main criteria.

condoleesa, is your ex related to Robertson?

People get so upset by what people say because they understand the need to govern ones tongue. What sometimes doesn't come through is the need to respect another's opnion. Let Pat have his opnion. For those of us secure in the knowledge that he is completely entitled to his opinion, as we are to ours there is no need for debate. He's a jackass to prescribe human emotions to a deity that our feeble mortal minds cannot possibly comprehend.
"God takes his tea with Sweet 'n Low only. And anyone who eats sugar hates God!!"
Um...ok.
Also, I believe that the art ofpublic eloquence, eloqution, and discourse have been severely diluted. I feel that we need to be able to communicate in words that no one can understand without looking them up. If you look at movie critics and news people their vocab has been shorted to "riveting", "horrific" and "mesmorizing".
But I digress...

I agree Rae Ann. Pat Robertson has lost it and it really acting like a hate monger, rather than a man of the cloth. Happy New Year and thanks for highlighting this madness!

Pat Robertson was probably in charge of burning witches in a previous life.

Sierrabella: You have a point because he is always the first to point a finger at someone else's immoral behavior. Then he advocates murdering a South American leader and now this! He is a hypocrite and a liar and that is too bad. I used to watch the 700 Club and I used to respect him!

footprint, sure Pat can have his opinion, but I can have mine too. Right? It's funny that you brought that up because I have been thinking about so much lately about the First Amendment and the different ways that people abuse it. When I was growing up I was taught that the 'right to free speech' meant that I should not only allow others to say what they think but that I should also try to respect their opinion and not think less of them for it. But in some cases it's just so obvious that what someone says is in need of criticism and exposition, especially when it's someone in a position of influence.

mahndisa, thanks! And yeah, I used to watch it some too a few years back.

sierrabella, I'm sure I was one of those burned witches in one of my past lives!

oops, I typed my verification in the wrong place! Oh, Monday morning!

No he isn't related to Pat Roberston. He thought he was above Pat Roberston.

Hey, even false prophets can be Christians I think. But, being a Christian doesn't make them a prophet. I think some false prophets believe they are real ones. Take my ex for example, he really believed it and probably still believes it today.

Of course, Pat Robertson can be an embarrassment to the Right with his outlandish extreme statements he makes once in awhile, but like many I think he just needs to be ignored or better yet him retire. However when Harry Belafonte called President Bush "the greatest terrorist in the world" after visiting Chavez IN Venezuela Sunday to me this idiot’s comment was more damning - to me -especially with it being heard all throughout the world and said outside the U.S. What has bothered me though going back to Sharon is that no one is mentioning what Iran’s hard-line President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has been saying about Sharon and Israel; in my opinion that is way more important especially about the threats and dangers to us all. According to my beliefs, I have never agreed with the President on the Road Map to Peace especially the pull-out of Gaza and the West Bank.

Perhaps a few of the far left and far right extremists need to retire or shut up.

In ref: to the Anti-Christ I feel he resides in what the early maps show of the Roman Empire area and he will be in leadership at the EU. This is only my opinion…if everyone is interested. (smiling)

Harry Belafonte could probably be charged with treason for that. Or at least, he should be.

Pat Robertson is an evil little man with evil intentions. He looks to make profit on peoples misery. He makes deals with dictators while saying he is helping these poor countries. He pillages the poors' country side with pollution and stripping the resources to line his pockets. He pretrends to do gods work but he knows he is evil he just can't smell is own bullsh**.
