Porn Industry in Perspective

via suzie

Part of the transcript of Nancy Grace's show last night:

... the size of this global porn industry, $57 billion.

If you take Toys R Us and Mars company -- they make Snickers and M&Ms and Milky Way -- add them together, it`s half that amount of on-line porn.

ABC, NBC, CBS combined, $6 billion-- That`s one tenth of the on-line porn industry.

And lastly, you take the gross domestic product of Jamaica, Bermuda, Aruba, Jordan and Bahrain, that`s a little short of the GDP of the porn business.

And related, DHS Press Secretary Arrested on Child Seduction Charges

Someone tell me why a 55 year old man is soliciting sexual contact with a 14 year old girl. Are there still older men who are stupid enough to think that a 14 year old girl is really going to want to do things with them?

This makes me ill. I think that men who want sex with young girls must have very tiny dicks. If any man tries something with one of my kids he'll be losing that tiny dick of his in the most unpleasant way.

Amen sister! Porn makes me sick. If it would stop and tasteful stuff for couples, that might not be so bad. But some of the nasty crap they come up with is just gross. And I most especially HATE the violent crap and the stuff that turns women into objects to do whatever they want to with. "oh, let's just shove whatever we want in her. Let's see how far it goes." That's just nasty and degrading.

Sorry, you hit a sore spot.

kat, I totally agree with you. The easy availability of the extreme porn, as you described as well as all that fetish shit (which includes people shitting on each other, YUCK), bestiality, pain and humiliation, etc., has hurt more marriages/relationsips than most men want to admit. And unfortunately, some of those men become so aroused and morally desensitized to that stuff that they begin to expect their wives/girlfriends to let them do it to them. I'm definitely no prude, but I definitely not a porn queen either.

Thanks for linking this important issue, I appreciate it. Internet porn is bigger than huge...as described in the billions of dollars. Police Officials and studies show that these predators have their own networks...and know how to contact one another. It is despicable and I feel a growing epidemic...if not already. I'm in agreement that these sick old bastards...probably do have little ones....to target children..not to mention their warped minds.

If you remember the Shasta Groene case, they say that Joseph Duncan belonged to a network of porn-sex predators globally...same w/ the 18 month old being sexually abused (on video) that our U.S. Atty General just indicted the group int'l. It was almost impossible to join...due to having to submit a live video of abuse before you were let in. To think that 50,000 (I think is the #)predators are online at any given time...for your children to log on...is horrifying.

Jessie brought up an interesting comment yesterday....regarding children visiting their friends outside their own homes...& using other computers. Computers are in everyone's homes....one click away from a sex predator with the plague of porn.

Sorry for the rambling....But this makes me furious...and the law enforcement is having difficulties staying on top of it. Usually they are one step behind due to this business being so huge. First I would shoot the bastard between his legs...and then piece by piece.

suzie, I think with kids and computers you have to be super vigilant in protecting them and educating them about the dangerous people out there. I know at least once a day I get an IM solicitation for porn.
