Taking a dive...

I'm drunk, but not from drinking or smoking anything. I waited too late to pick up my Effexor refill yesterday. The pharmacy closed at 5. I got there at 5:10. Whenever I miss a dose, the next day I feel really drunk, dizzy, sleepy, stumbly. It's so weird that when you first start taking these medications it takes a few weeks for them to start working, but miss one dose and you're screwed. I'll go get it in a few minutes, but right now I'm indulging in some ELO, Livin' Thing in particular. Why isn't orchestral rock acceptable anymore? I love it:

Sailin' away on the crest of a wave
It's like magic
Rollin' and ridin' and slippin' & sliding
It's magic

I do feel like I'm on the crest of a wave, rollin' and ridin' and slippin' and sliding, but not in the way I'd like. Magic? Well, chemistry maybe.

CHORUS
And you, and your sweet desire,
You took me, ohhh higher and higher baby,
It's a livin' thing,
It's a terrible thing to lose
It's a given thing
What a terrible thing to lose.

I'm takin' a dive. Dive, dive... (echo)

Yeah, it feels like a dive off the raft into the roiling waters.

Making believe this is what you've conceived
From your worst day, I'm takin a dive
Moving in line when you look back in time
To the first day, I'm taken I'm taken

And you and your sweet desire,
Don't you do it , don't you do it,
Taking me ohh, higher and higher baby
It's a living thing,
It's a terrible thing to lose,
It's a given thing
What a terrible thing to lose

I'm takin a dive. Almost there... hey...

Takin' a dive 'cos you can't halt the slide
Floating downstream, I'm takin a dive
So let her go don't start spoiling the show
It's a bad dream, I'm takin', I'm takin'

No, you can't halt the slide. You can't build a dam strong enough to stop the downstream flow. Insidious water always finds its way. I often dream of the ocean and the sharks swimming there waiting for me to fall in.

And you and your sweet desire
Don't you do it , don't you do it
Taking me higher and higher baby

I'm taking a dive...

It's a livin' thing...

I feel your dizziness....and try not to stumble..it hurts like hell if you fall and injure yourself...take my word for it.

Some of those damn medications will make you crazy instead of making you sane! I play see saw all time or like one foot on the brake and the other on the gas petal.

Make the world stop spinning...lay down and feel better. Thinking of you.

Making my rounds today, thanks to all of you friends...I am better somewhat. Been to Mr.G's, Madman's, here and there...I think I will take a rest and check back w/you in a bit. Left you a special note on Sunday's post. Take care friend...

I don't get that way from Effexor, but I get ticks when I take it if I've missed a dose. Really scares people.

Great song. Might as well make the best of the morning buzz! Remember, some people pay good money to feel that way!:)

ELO's been one of my favorites for a long time. Once, back in college, I had finished my last final for the quarter. I literally ran the mile and a half back to the dorms. A friend who had previously finished his finals was waiting for me with a cold 6-pack of Lowenbrau and ELO's version of Roll Over Beethoven cranked on a stereo that rattled windows. :-)

Hi, I just stumbled on your blog. Wow, I really enjoyed the honesty. But I have to share with you some news that I think you'll really enjoy. We were made for so much more. You know, sex, drugs, pills, relationships... none of that really satisfies. I'm sure you've noticed the emptiness. To make a long story short, we were made to be satisfied by God. But our sin separates us from him, and that's why there's that emptiness inside. Good news, though, Jesus died to set us free from sin and then fill that emptiness. He wants to give you a new life, one that really satisfies, but it'll take giving up your old life to Jesus. Check out Romans 6:22-23 if you have a Bible.

wow, I'm so popular with anonymous sploggers today! just got inspired for a new post.

wow, dammit hammett, Lowenbrau? You must have been one of those rich kids. lol All we could afford was cheap beer. But yeah, ELO is one of those way under-rated and under-appreciated bands.

ben, interesting and thanks, but been there, done that.

You really are popular with the sploggers today. Hope you managed to pick up your prescription today, and that you're back to "normal". ;) I, for one, hate feeling drunk or high when I haven't intentionally made myself that way.

My goodness Rae Ann...did you hang up on the wrong telemarketer or something???
